This guidance shows how studio providers can seek funding from alternative sources such as funds supporting skills development, regeneration and community activities.They were prepared by Marc Collett as part of a workshop at the NFASP conference in Liverpool in October 2008.
The major sources of capital funding that underpinned the development of many artists’ studios, such as Arts Council England’s capital programme, the Single Regeneration Budget and European funding have dwindled in recent years. New sources of capital investment are now needed to ensure studio organisations can continue to develop.
Such sources might include:
• cultural infrastructure funds,
• neighbourhood renewal and regeneration funds,
• planning gain
• low-cost loans.
• working in partnership with the social housing sector and private developers.
