The National Federation of Artists’ Studio Providers: Conference 2008

23 October 2008, Liverpool

The second NFASP conference What’s it worth? The cultural & social value of artists’ workspace took place in Liverpool.

The NFASP conference took place in Liverpool on 22 and 23 October with over 150 representatives attending from across the UK, from Belfast, Cornwall, Essex to Glasgow, Newcastle and Nottingham.

Speakers from across the studio and arts sector raised some important issues on the difference between short term studio developments and long term sustainable models for studios, with input from developers, housing and planners.

-: "this is the way forward - to attract serious attention, to pressurise the government, local councils and Arts Council, to formalise our presence and our significance"

The 'Making it Happen' workshop brought together groups from the North West to discuss issues affecting their groups and to highlight ways forward for a regional forum.

Visits also took place to The Royal Standard and Redwire Studios as well as a tour of Liverpool Biennial.
